Q: What is happening at the CORE?

A: The CORE is excited to announce a redevelopment project that is set to take place immediately. We will be undergoing extensive renovations, including the removal of the roof spanning three city blocks and replacing it with a seamless glass skylight. Guests will enjoy an urban streetscape on the third floor of the property, positioned to become the home to new international retailers. With a modern, next-level retail concept, this redevelopment will change the face of Calgary's retail experience and position the CORE as the premier retail shopping centre.

Q: What specific changes will occur due to the renovations?

A: Two very distinct buildings, TD Square and Calgary Eaton Centre - now known as the CORE - will be seamlessly integrated below the largest skylight in the world. The CORE is positioned to become home to some of the world's most desired retailers, as well as an integrated Devonian Gardens and expanded, next-generation food facilities with seating for 900 patrons. The 3rd level will have several 2 storey facades showcasing natural materials and exterior accents, creating a feeling of an outdoor promenade.

Basking in natural light, with an emphasis on individual storefronts, the third floor will provide an urban streetscape unlike anything Calgary has ever seen. The CORE will be the downtown destination for those seeking a unparalleled shopping experience.

Q: How long will the renovations last?

A: We are working as quickly as possible to bring Calgarians a one-of-a-kind shopping experience, and we anticipate an overall completion date of fall 2010. Please see the construction schedule on our construction site for more information on estimated completion dates and project milestones.

Q: What new stores will be coming to the CORE?

A: Luxury retailer Holt Renfew has moved to their new 150,000 sq ft location in the old Sears building.  Harry Rosen will also move to a new and larger location of 31,000 sq ft. We are currently in negotiation with a number of international retailers, and while we are unable to release details at this time, there will be some exciting announcements in the next few months. We invite you to visit new store openings for an updated list of confirmed retailers joining the CORE.

Q: Can I still shop while renovations are taking place at the CORE?

A: The CORE will continue to provide a unique and personalized shopping experience to our guests while we undergo construction. We are also pleased to continue to offer a great selection of stores and services, as well as continuing our popular events, such as First Fashion Thursdays.

Q: How disruptive will the project be? Will you need to close the mall or any nearby roads?

A: Most of the construction will occur after hours, allowing the mall to remain open during redevelopment. Learn more about the specific areas and retailers that may be under construction at any given time by visiting the construction schedule page.

Q: How will parking at the CORE be affected?

A: Parking will not be affected during the CORE's redevelopment. Redevelopment will only take place within the CORE retail areas (former Sears store, Calgary Eaton Centre, TD Square), and will not affect the underground parking below the project areas.

Q: What's the best way to keep updated regarding all the changes happening at the CORE?

A: Explore the construction schedule for an up-to-date summary of the current developments occurring at the CORE. You may also view construction as it occurs by clicking on construction cam.
